The Lion King; an American animated musical film produced by Walt Disney in 1994. This film takes place in the Pride Lands of Africa, King Mufasa, the ruling lion and Queen Sarabi present their new-born son Simba; the new heir of the throne, to the animals of pride rock. Simba’s Uncle; Scar, is fuelled by anger and rage due to being unable to take over the throne, and plots to kill Mufasa and Simba in order to take his place as King. Scar causes a stampede through the canyon along with his hyenas where both Mufasa and Simba are, Scar ensures Mufasa falls to his death and blames the death on Simba (IMDB, 2013).
Simba fleas pride rock after being told to run away and never return. Simba is found and rescued after collapsing by Timon (meerkat) and Pumbaa (warthog); the three become the greatest of friends. Nala, Simba’s childhood friend accidently meets Simba whilst hunting and begs him to return to the Pride Lands now a place of starvation and ruin. After some wise words from Rafiki (a Mandrill), Simba returns to Pride Rock to fight Scar for his Kingdom. After learning that it was in fact Scar who was responsible for his father’s death, Simba takes revenge through an enraged battle. Simba triumphs and takes his place as the rightful king, completing ‘The Circle of Life’ (IMDB, 2013).
